Oconto County Casts Wide Net: Launches Major Economic Impact Study on Angling and Outdoor Recreation, Seeks Angler Input

OCONTO, WI – July 5th – TEDCOR today announced the launch of a comprehensive economic impact study primarily focused on angling (fishing), while also examining the broader impact of other outdoor recreation activities across Oconto County. This vital initiative, conducted in collaboration with Wisconsin’s Office of Outdoor Recreation, aims to quantify the significant contributions of fishing enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers to the local economy.

As the official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) and operator of the Visit Oconto County brand, TEDCOR is committed to fostering sustainable growth and enhancing visitor experiences across the region. This study will gather crucial data to better understand spending patterns, visitor demographics, and preferences among those who come to fish and enjoy Oconto County’s natural assets.

“Oconto County is renowned as a premier destination for anglers, and the economic contributions of fishing are undeniable,” said Kelly Schwartz, Director of Marketing and Communications for TEDCOR. “This study is an incredible opportunity to truly understand and demonstrate that economic impact. We are excited to partner with the Office of Outdoor Recreation on this project and are especially eager to hear directly from those who cast a line in our waters.”

To ensure the most accurate and comprehensive data, TEDCOR is inviting all anglers and other outdoor recreation visitors to participate in a short, five-minute online survey. The survey will collect anonymous information on trip duration, spending habits, preferred activities, and overall visitor experience in Oconto County.

“Your input is invaluable,” added Schwartz. “Whether you’re casting a line, paddling a kayak, hitting the trails, or simply enjoying our scenic beauty, your participation will directly help us understand and enhance the fishing and outdoor recreation experience and its economic contribution to Oconto County for years to come.”

We invite you to participate in this important study by completing the survey, which is now available online. Access the survey directly at https://bit.ly/ocontocountystudy, or find it on the Visit Oconto County website (VisitOcontoCounty.org) and our social media channels. TEDCOR encourages everyone who fishes or engages in outdoor recreation in Oconto County to contribute their insights.
